Take a tour of historic Craigdarroch Castle and learn the story of its principal founder, wealthy coal baron Robert Dunsmuir. Designated as a National Historic Site of Canada, the castle boasts more than 25,000 square feet (2,300 sq m) of detailed construction and majestic decor.

Step inside this spectacular mansion, built between 1887 and 1890, and marvel at 4 floors of warm interiors, with lavish furnishings and meticulous ornamentation. The Castle’s tower, high above the city, gives you a stunning view of Victoria, the Pacific Ocean and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains.

Believed to have cost in the region of CAD$500,000 at the time of construction, the castle showcases decorative elements that are intricately styled in beautiful granite, stained glass and woodwork.
