The City of Victoria is situated at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Vancouver Island is located off the coast of British Columbia and is approximately 300 miles long and 50 miles wide. Victoria is the largest city on the island and is in close proximity to Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington. The City of Victoria began as a Hudson Bay Company trading post in 1843 and it is Western Canada’s oldest city. It was named in honour of Queen Victoria and much of it’s olde world charm exists today in the provincial capital.
