Royal London Wax Museum Royal London Wax Museum

Victoria’s world-of-wax first opened in 1961 in a street level location of the Crystal Garden when that building still housed a salt-water swimming pool.

By 1969 more exhibit space was necessary. In April of 1971 Canada’s 13TH Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker, officiated at the museum’s re-opening in a harbour-side building that had been vacated by CP Steamships. Docked alongside the new premises to accommodate the reception that followed the ceremonies was the Princess Marguerite steamship, the last of the CP fleet.

Decades of enhancements have gone well beyond increasing the wax figures inventory from 60 to over 300. The multi-faceted world-of-wax experience has been intensified by scene enhancing technologies as well as complementing displays such as the Crown Jewels Theatre, a burning bush for the Moses scene, and original opera chairs crafted in 1987 for the Prince and Princess of Wales.
